EdTechReview’s new initiative in the space of Open Education Resources (OER) is focused at bringing learning material from the best teachers to the students at a very low cost and faculty development.

For this initiative EdTechReview, India’s Premier EdTech Community has partnered with Progia LLC, a US based company with expertise in the use and creation of OER. Under this project, ETR has started to offer Open Educational Resources (OER) oriented awareness Programs, hands-on Workshops and Services to create courses using OER. These offerings are focused at entrepreneurs, faculties/teachers, authors and policy makers.

Get Ahead with the use of OER

Education sector is undergoing a huge transformation worldwide. Together with Internet, Social Media and Mobile devices, OERs are proving to be a great game changer in this transformation. Millions of dollars are being invested by the Governments of many countries, foundations like Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and educational institutes like MIT, Stanford into the creation and use of OER.

Especially in India where 240 million additional students will seek college education by 2020, there is a shortage of 1.4 million trained teachers and there is access inequality due to rising cost and uneven infrastructure, OER offers the promise of meeting these challenges. Through OER, 1) students will learn from the best teachers in the world at a very low cost, 2) teachers will spend more time in problem solving and critical thinking and will be able to win world-wide recognition, and 3) educational institutions will gain comparative edge & increase enrollment by expanding their reach to wider audience.
