COVID-19 has ushered a new era in education wherein education institutions and it’s faculty members have been forced to move all teaching and learning activities online.
While there are a few connectivity challenges faced by students and faculty, one of the biggest challenges by far, has been the lack of faculty experience in designing and delivering engaging curriculum to the Gen Z learners in their digital classrooms.
Recognising this as an urgent issue, the Philippines Association of State Universities and Colleges [PASUC] has partnered with AkadAsia, a Singapore based mission driven education technology business, to up-skill faculty members across its 112 member strong network.
This partnership program focuses on “Building Outcomes Based Online Teaching Competencies Towards Advancement, Mastery and Productivity” for its 70,000+ faculty members all over the Philippines and is called the BOOTCAMP. It will support faculty members of State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines in transitioning to the new normal of teaching and learning.
BOOTCAMP is a capacity-building training series designed for faculty members to learn basic to advanced skills on creating and facilitating online courses through an engaging learning experience. The training is a good mix of pedagogy and actual hands-on technical training, using AkadAsia’s FREEJOO Platform. All the training courses in the BOOTCAMP program have been developed and designed by AkadAsia’s academic team based in Singapore, who will be on hand to provide online assistance to the PASUC faculty members participating in the BOOTCAMP program.
This partnership also supports the strong ties between Philippines and Singapore and is inline with ASEAN’s motto “One Vision, One Identity, One Community”.
