IcanRead has officially launched in the summer of 2021.
IcanRead is a text to speech web app developed to help those with learning differences such as dyslexia. It’s compatible with Android, iPhone, PC and Mac.
The functionality of the app is very simple; by simply tapping with your finger on a text, or with your mouse if you’re using a computer, the app will read the text out loud. What sets IcanRead apart from current programs is its ease of use, where a lot of focus has been put on making it possible for children to use it, who might otherwise get overwhelmed by complex interfaces.
Apart from its ease of use, IcanRead has the tripod function. Which is used by putting your mobile device on a tripod, and putting a book in front of it. Then by pointing with your finger at the text you want to read out loud, the app will recognize the placement of your finger, and read the desired text.
The app is also developed with accessibility for everyone in mind, and it currently reads over 40 languages, covering the majority of the world’s population. And it’s programmed to automatically recognize the language of the text being read, so there is no need to change any language settings.
The app focuses on helping those with dyslexia or other learning differences by serving as a compliment when developing their reading skills. And due to the easily manoeuvrable interface of the app, we want as many people around the world to have access to IcanRead.
