Wise, an EdTech platform that offers user-friendly and comprehensive online class and management toolkit for schools, colleges and individual teachers, has raised $5 million in a funding round led by James Beshara.
The round also saw participation from a clutch of angels and VC funds including Weekend Fund, Shrug Capital, RemoteFirst Capital, Taurus VC, Operators Partners as well as William Hockey and Ankur Nagpal (founder Teachable, Vibe Capital).
With the new financing, the company plans to expand globally and build solutions for not just individual tutors but also 100s of tutoring businesses which are already using the free to use platform.
Launched in August 2020 by two friends from IIT-Bombay, Bilal Abidi and Mubeen Masudi, Wise provides teachers and coaches with tools necessary for them to manage and automate operations such as scheduling, attendance, assessments, resource sharing, etc.
The platform allows educators to set up their online classrooms easily. Its features include, automated attendance report after every class, grade homework and test automatically within seconds, and secure cloud storage for all your notes, documents and files.
With Wise, students can manage track their daily attendance of all teachers and students, create digital resources libraries automatically, visit live classes as a guest teacher, and download student and teacher activity reports.
The startup claims to have amassed over 2 million users with over 700k monthly active users.
Wise believes that online teaching is more than just live classes. The company wants teachers to have the peace of mind to focus on their craft while they take care of the rest.
