Infinity Learn, an education technology company run by Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, has acquired a majority stake in WizKlub, a high-order thinking skills platform for children for $7.5 million.
With this deal, Infinity Learn has launched ’Infinity Futurz’ to further augment its portfolio offerings to the K12 segment. The vertical will help students to learn high-order thinking skills such as analytical thinking, complex problem solving, critical thinking, innovation, active learning, and the ability to use technology to solve problems.
Post the acquisition, the WizKlub team of around 100 people will join the EdTech platform and operate under the cognitive learning vertical "Infinity Futurz".
According to a press statement, Infinity Learn aims to onboard 1 million early years students on Infinity Futurz over the next 24 months. In addition, the platform also wants to take Wizklub’s offerings to English-speaking nations this year through Futurz.
Speaking on the partnership, Founder and Director of Infinity Learn, Sushma Boppana, said:
"We teach our students the right skill, at the right time, in the right medium. Wizklub also works on the similar principle of effectively teaching students with best in class digital products helping students develop core cognitive excellence and work on logical and creative thinking abilities. I am sure that with the Wizklub team joining Infinity Learn we will be better on our mission to give every child the best start to their learning journey and prepare them with the skills they need for a 21st-century world."
Infinity Learn offers students free mock tests so they can assess themselves and then work further to enhance their knowledge. The startup is led by people with the purpose to become global leaders in the digital learning arena and has achieved one million-plus registered users and 100K+ paid users on the platform in a span of 8 months since its commercial launch.
Commenting on the acquisition, CEO and President of Infinity Learn by Sri Chaitanya, Ujjwal Singh, said:
"Infinity Learn strives to fuel learners’ success and become a dominating k-12 player through holistic learning and teaching. The journey of a learner begins at an early age. In order to succeed in the future, a student in this decade must study a variety of core competencies. These abilities are best acquired during childhood, which Wizklub is addressing in a scientific and predictable manner."
The latest deal is Infinity Learn's third acquisition in the EdTech space. The company acquired Hyderabad-based EdTech startup Teacherr in October last year and concept-based multilingual content platform Don’t Memorise in the same year in March.
Founded in February 2018 by serial entrepreneur Amit Bansal, the Bangalore-based WizKlub offers research-based education programs designed to develop future skills across comprehension, critical thinking, and mathematical aptitude in kids from the age group of 6 – 14 years. The company's aim is to empower kids to learn and develop comprehensive skills to solve real-world problems using practical approaches.
Amit Bansal, Founder & CEO of WizKlub, added:
"I found the Infinity Learn DNA very similar to that of Wizklub. Wizklub is a company obsessed with learner outcomes. And the first question that Sushma and Ujjwal asked me in our first meeting was: How do you measure whether the student has acquired the skills you are teaching. I found that a refreshing change from the market full of “sell first” approach. I know that with Infinity Learn, we would realize our vision to empower the current generation of school going children with skills necessary to succeed in future."
Sri Chaitanya Group entered the EdTech space with the launch of Infinity Learn last June. It competes with BYJU’s, Upgrad, Vedantu, Unacademy, Eruditus, among others. The education services firm is spread across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh with 7,00,000 learners across schools, colleges, and coaching institutes.
