Physics Wallah, India’s leading educational technology platform, has expanded its portfolio with the announcement of PW Gurukulam School, a futuristic, value-based school. PW Gurukulam is located in Sushant Lok III, Sector 57, Gurugram, and operates under the “Where Culture Meets Innovation” motto.
PW Gurukulam, affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), will provide elementary education from Play School to Class VII, with a curriculum structure based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It plans to include 400 students in its first batch. This institution is dedicated to providing education grounded in experiential learning, aiming to cultivate well-rounded students.
According to the official statement, the primary areas of study are financial literacy and entrepreneurship, which will be enhanced by programmes such as Model United Nations (MUN), among others, to provide students with the holistic skills necessary for future success. PW Gurukulam will ensure that students participate in community engagement activities promoting sustainability and societal upliftment. The school fosters a culture of kindness and respect, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
Commenting on the launch of the school, Founder & CEO of Alakh Pandey said:
The school will be a canvas for students to paint their futures with immersive and transformative learning. At PW Gurukulam, we aim to offer education that covers a broad spectrum and will enable them to choose from limitless possibilities rather than conventional career paths.
The official opening of the elementary school marks the startup’s entry into offline primary education. Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari started PW in 2020 to coach IIT/JEE and NEET aspirants. The platform also provides study material for each state board, like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and others. The startup focuses on making the learning experience as economical as possible for all students. However, it has recently expanded its offering to include postgraduate programmes, UPSC preparation, and upskilling courses.
The startup began as a YouTube channel and has been continually expanding its reach in recent years. PW, like many other EdTech firms, has entered the offline sector. It opened its first offline centre in June 2022 in Rajasthan’s Kota. The platform currently has 67 offline centres, PW Vidyapeeth, across 38 cities and claims to have a student base of nearly 1.5 Lakh. It aims to increase the number of these centres to over 120 in 2024.
Adding further about the development, Co-founder Prateek Maheshwari said, “PhysicsWallah will soon launch a much larger school in Varanasi”. Maheshwari stated, “The company is in talks with the Ministry of Education and the CBSE to launch virtual schools, which will help them tap rural markets with significantly less capital expenditure”.
PW Gurukulam will be an innovative learning space where students can learn various aspects of Montessori pedagogy, robotics, and many other skills.
