With a global aim to impact 200 million users, the platform focuses on accessible English learning through speech technology and large language models, making it enjoyable and efficient.
SpeakX’s research indicates that English proficiency is indispensable across all economic strata in India. Among the users, 68% hail from the middle-income group, 20% from lower-income groups, and 12% from higher-income groups. This distribution underscores the universal need for contextual English learning, regardless of an individual’s socioeconomic background. It features a unique three-layered AI system focusing on speech, learning objectives, and customized content. The platform addresses the customer’s pain point of exclusion from social circles or job opportunities due to inadequate English communication skills. The app aims to help people in different situations like dating, marriage, talking with family, work, and travel.
Commenting on the findings, Arpit Mittal, Founder & CEO of SpeakX, stated:
Before GenAI, learning to speak English was nearly impossible for many people because practising conversation in a new language required costly and hard-to-find language partners. With AI technology, you can converse with a virtual teacher, friend, or colleague just like a real person and at a fraction of the cost. This AI buddy engages in conversation and provides feedback to help improve your communication skills. It is available 24/7.
English proficiency remains a critical concern in India, with data from the 2011 Census revealing that only 30% of the population possesses some level of proficiency. SpeakX aims to bridge this gap by providing accessible and effective English language education, empowering individuals to succeed in a world where English proficiency grants societal status and opens doors to various opportunities.
