Turing College, a Y Combinator (YC) EdTech startup, has recently secured $2.69 million ( €2.5 million) in funding from the European Innovation Council. With this funding, the company plans to bridge the tech talent gap and democratise access to high-quality education.
Turing College believes that AI brings vast potential to the field of education and is ready to lead this discovery. In the coming months, the company plans to invest in solutions that make education more accessible, effective, and personally meaningful. The platform claims to create a learning experience that genuinely gets each user. It tracks the student’s strengths and challenges, recognises the topics they’re confident in, and gently points out areas for growth—all without adding extra pressure.
The company said in its official blog, “We’re building AI solutions that amplify human expertise rather than replace it, giving our mentors and learners the tools they need to stay ahead”.
Following the launch of ChatGPT, several colleges worldwide banned it, fearing that it would impede competition in the tech era. Turing College, on the other hand, believes that AI tools can help students study more effectively. The firm plans to use the grant to address “one of the biggest challenges in online education: providing a tailored learning experience that keeps students engaged and motivated throughout their journey.”
Turing College also aims to create a system that personalises real-time learning paths using AI technologies like large language models (LLMs). “Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, every learner will have a path uniquely suited to their needs.”
This human-AI partnership is designed to give tutors ‘expert-like’ support, boosting their teaching with insights that reflect an expert’s approach.
The company states that with this funding, they will look not just into education but also into advancement into job opportunities. Many qualified candidates need to be noticed due to mismatched hiring processes, making finding a job that aligns with one’s skills difficult. It seeks to create an AI-driven platform that makes hiring more efficient for everyone involved. Candidates can showcase their skills in ways that matter, while employers gain a clearer view of the talent that best fits their needs.
