Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), the CSR implementing agency of the Kotak Mahindra Group, has launched its ground-breaking Communicative English Future Ready (CE-FR) Digitized Content for middle school children from regional/vernacular schools in four states: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Goa, through a learning management system platform called ‘One KEF’, which is available on all Android platforms.
The CEFR content is accessible to all teachers across these states through a fully digitized model, ensuring standardization and enhanced accessibility. By incorporating teacher training, the programme aims to equip educators with the necessary skills to use digital tools, other resources, and content to maximize their students’ learning outcomes.
Communicative English skills are essential for students’ success in today’s globalized world. However, students from vernacular medium schools frequently struggle to develop English-speaking skills. To address this, the Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) offers the Communicative English—Future Readiness Programme, tailored to middle school students. The programme is designed for students who may have had limited exposure to the English language.
Speaking about the initiative, Jayasree Ramesh, Director, Education & Scholarships, Kotak Education Foundation, said:
Our digitized Communicative English programme is a passport to global opportunities. Beyond language learning, this programme empowers learners with 21st-century skills, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and global citizenship. By embedding Financial and Digital literacy, this is genuinely a Future-ready programme.
The CE-FR Digitized Content, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and incorporating 21st-century skills, fosters socio-emotional learning through engaging activities and interactive experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. KEF has transformed the lives of over 50,000 students through the Communicative English Programme over 17 years. This curriculum enhances students’ communicative language skills, increasing their confidence and capacity to cope with higher education and careers. The CE-FR programme is a three-year journey that begins with a Foundation Course to develop vocabulary and language skills.
Kotak Education Foundation’s mission is to support children and youth from underprivileged families through different education-based interventions to rise above the poverty line and lead a life of dignity through sustainable processes. The Foundation Course, which combines language and physical exercise, strives to provide a stress-free atmosphere for language acquisition.
