As schools and universities quickly shift online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, education technology (EdTech) providers have pivoted rapidly to accommodate changing demands and a new learning and teaching methods.
The online shift also saw a wide range of development and delivery related issues that made lives harder for the global EdTech solutions providers. Increased usage, surging digital content consumption, glitchy connectivity, poor collaboration & communication, and poor learning outcome tracking are just the tip of the iceberg.
With most global cloud applications running on AWS, the Amazon Web Services team hosted an on-demand webinar series called “AWS EdTech Solutions Webinar Series – Build, scale, and save on the cloud.”
This webinar series led by AWS solutions experts from different domains covers details about various scenarios and solutions offered by AWS & its technologies. It’s aimed to help the EdTech solution providers to understand the challenges and build solutions while keeping in mind the factors of scalability and cost-effectiveness at the core of their products & be ready for the future demands and supply.
The webinar series featured technology overview, use-cases, and how to deploy the solutions (hands-on-demo) featuring Amazon Chime, AWS SDK, AWS Lamda, AWS Elemental Media Services, DynamoDB, AWS SNS, & many others.
Here is a quick overview of the topics from the webinar series:
1) Modernizing Remote Classroom and Content Delivery Experience on AWS
This session covers how Amazon Chime and Amazon Chime SDK can help educators and students virtually meet, chat, place voice/video calls, and share content anywhere.
The webinar also featured a hands-on demo to create a video-on-demand (VOD) solution with AWS Elemental, keeping in mind multi-screen delivery, scale, and adaptive bandwidth support without worrying about the complexity of building and operating a video processing infrastructure.
The speakers also talked of their partner institutions using AWS solutions to meet their use cases.

2) Building Database, Data Lakes, and Analytics on AWS
This session kicks off with the experts talking about databases' basics and drills down into use cases/customer stories, models, migration, scaling, and associated challenges. The session focuses on how AWS helps rapidly build and scale databases with AWS Data Lake Storage, AWS Lake Formation, AWS RDS, AWS Aurora, EC2, DynamoDB, AWS Glue, Amazon Athena, Amazon QuickSight, etc.
The experts also show a demo on how easy and automated it is to set up an S3-RDSRDS database environment.
The experts also cover how you can set up an environment that supports modern-day needs in a matter of minutes to support requirements such as data warehousing, fraud detection, recommendation engines, serverless computing, and internet-of-things processing regardless of volume, velocity, and variety of data.
