This conference is geared towards higher ed leaders and will focus on top emerging technologies in the education space including blockchain, augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and mobile access.
The Emerging Technologies in Education Conference will expose education professionals to the technologies that are transforming their sector. This conference will provide attendees information on how these technologies can be used, real-life examples of how they are being used in education, and how to implement these technologies in order to stay relevant in an ever-changing world.
We will offer blockchain-based certificates of completion to all attendees, issued by Oral Roberts University. These certificates are issued using Blockcerts, which was built by Learning Machine in conjunction with the MIT Media Lab.
Blockchain
We are now seeing start-ups focusing on blockchain – whilst existing technology businesses are integrating blockchain technology into their overall offerings – building pilots and working with customers to develop roadmaps forward.
Using a peer-to-peer network and a distributed timestamping server, a blockchain database can be managed autonomously. Blockchain is the future business model of supply chain and can be applied to the entire education value chain.
Augmented and Virtual Reality
Over the past 12 months, Augmented and Virtual Reality technology has advanced in all sectors – with applications revolutionizing the interactions between human and machine, and humans and virtual reality.
In education in particular, AR and VR applications are rapidly changing the way we are learning, providing experiential learning by simulating real-world environments.
AR and VR increases student engagement levels, and provides insights into what they will experience in various environments when they enter the workforce.
The technology is particularly interesting for visual learners and students with learning challenges – providing alternatives to more traditional teaching methods.
Artificial Intelligence
The idea of machine learning dates back to 1956 and is when algorithms are used to interpret data and action is taken to complete a task. Artificial intelligence can complete tasks that normally require “human intelligence”. It learns on its own and continues to improve.
Artificial intelligence has the ability to improve and streamline many different processes within education. AI can improve and automate administrative tasks as well as create personalized learning experiences for students.
Mobility
With 97% of Gen-Z and millennials owning a smartphone, the desire to access information at anytime, from anywhere is becoming extremely popular, and almost expected by students today. The ability for students to access grades, books, and more from anywhere in the world, as well as take classes without physically being in the classroom, is making it easier for students to obtain their degree and complete graduation. Distance learning is on the rise, providing a chance for students to receive education anytime, anywhere, without physically being in the same room as the teacher. With the marketplace being more global than ever, it only makes sense that education follow suit.
