Swiss EdTech Alphacruncher Raises €1.45M To Enable Its Research Cloud Workspace Product Globally

Alphacruncher, a Switzerland-based education technology firm, has raised €1.45 million funding from Austrian venture capital firm Alpine Equity, NGM, private investors and existing users.

With the recent fundraise, the company plans to enable the global rollout of its education and research cloud workspace product, Nuvolos.

Founded in 2015 by Alexandru Popescu, Fabio Trojani, and Tamas Simon, Alphacruncher’s cloud platform provides an easily accessible, fully integrated, digital research environment, which efficiently supports data-analytic workflows with a holistic approach providing appropriate data services, high-performance computing facilities and unified digital curation.

Alphacruncher is on a mission to provide innovative technology solutions to the education, higher education and research sectors at large. Its product Nuvolos creates novel and simplified workflows in digital education and research. Nuvolos is a complete research and teaching platform optimized for data and code. It enables its users to harness the power of modern cloud computing technology in a simple and user-friendly way.

In addition to providing an online computing lab interface, Nuvolos offers productivity, quality of life, and integration features to minimize the overhead that used to be a natural part of academic workflows.

Talking about the platform, Co-founder and CEO of Alphacruncher, Alexandru Popescu, said,

''Our core objective is to boost scientific research and education by integrating cutting edge advances in computation, data and cloud technologies. By doing this, people can focus on their area of research expertise, students can learn in more engaging ways, and facilities can ultimately save resources.''

Popescu, further added:

"The research workspace gives scientific researchers access to storage and cloud computing power. This means researchers can at last collaborate and work on scientific discovery in a secure and scalable, powerful workspace, no matter where they are."

All students are treated equally and benefit from consistent and identical workspaces powered by equal resources. With Nuvolos, instructors offer their students unprecedented learning opportunities, allowing them to participate from anywhere, anytime and at their pace.

Harald Pöttinger, Managing Partner, Alpine Group, added,

''CEO Alexandru Popescu has gathered a brilliant team around him, and we want to see this team develop and the product to succeed - because we know it can.''
