Out-Class, a Pakistan-based education technology firm, announced that it has raised $500,000 in a seed round led by Pakistan’s House of Habib, alongside other global institutional and angel investors.
With the new financing, the company plans to expand its course offerings, invest in improving teacher quality and build new personalisation and adaptive features into its platform.
Founded in 2020 by Aiman Bashir, Ali Nomani and Oosman Bashir, Out-Class provides a high-quality alternative to tuition academies from the comfort of students’ homes, and with the convenience of their own schedule. An Out-Class Crash Course typically covers the entire syllabus along with past paper questions and full-length solutions within 25 hours.
The startup’s multi-modal content is created in-house and its teaching style is informed by the latest research on the neuroscience of learning. On its world-class platform, Out-Class deploys leading-edge tools to ensure students are in control of their learning. It aims to become an equaliser for education.
Speaking about the company, Co-founder & CEO of Out-Class, Aiman Bashir, said:
“We started off by offering crash courses to students to prepare them for high-stakes exams at one-fourth the price of tuition academies. But we’re just getting started. Our goal is much bigger – in a country where one-third of children are out of school, we want to make high-quality education accessible and affordable to all.”
Out-Class instructors hail from the world’s best institutions and have a deep-rooted passion for their subject. Drawing on their experience of decades, they curate the most relevant information for every course, ensuring students are prepared effectively, and efficiently, for each exam.
Adding further about the platform, Co-founder of Out-Class, Oosman Bashir, said:
“We feel tremendous responsibility in our role towards contributing to Pakistan’s educational landscape and realise it needs a lot of work. The startup has sought investors who understood the market.”
Commenting on the latest development, Non-Executive Director of House of Habib, Hamza Habib, said:
“We were inspired by the Out-Class team’s vision to make high-quality content accessible for students through an innovative, world-class platform.”
According to Ali Nomani, Out-Class intends to launch more mass market products in the coming days. It also plans to start offering SSC and matriculation products by the end of this year.
