The Aligarh Muslim University recently announced 31 new courses to the SWAYAM portal for the 2024–2025 academic year. The Union government launched the portal with the aim of enhancing student learning and offering free online courses.
The courses range from various disciplines, including Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Wildlife Sciences, Forensic Medicine, Commerce, Economics, English, Geography, Public Administration, Sociology, Political Science, Library and Information Science, Law, Psychology, Urdu, Hindi and Sunni Theology, have been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the learners from across the country.
These courses, a product of the collaboration between AMU’s Department of Computer Science and the prestigious NPTEL, IIT Madras, have been funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This partnership ensures that the courses are of the highest quality and are in line with the latest educational standards. They are now available for enrollment on the SWAYAM portal, completely free of cost.
University’s SWAYAM Coordinator, Prof. Aasim Zafar, has shared that learners from any University can enrol in these online courses as per their requirements. The courses are set to begin from [July 22], and out of the 31 courses, 28 will run for a duration of 12 weeks, while three will conclude in 8 weeks. This information will help students plan their learning schedule effectively.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon, expressed confidence that learners across the country will benefit from the quality content courses and rich expertise of learned faculty members of AMU. She also appreciated University teachers for their efforts. The Registrar, Mohammad Imran (IPS), assured assistance in further strengthening the facilities for developing and launching MOOCs for the SWAYAM platform.
The varied courses include Plant Physiology and Metabolism, Business Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Management Concepts, Database Management Systems, Data Science Using Python, Econometric Methods, and mathematical methods-I (Economics). The complete list is available on the SWAYAM portal.
