Astria Learning, a Florida-based leading EdTech organization, has forged a unique partnership with the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). This groundbreaking agreement, signed on May 5th, 2024, in Lilongwe, heralds a new era in LUANAR’s journey towards integrating cutting-edge online educational platforms. This collaboration is not just about education; it’s about empowering students with advanced Agritech programmes and leveraging Astria Learning’s robust e-learning solutions to overcome the limitations of traditional learning and make education more accessible and effective.
Under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Emmanuel Kaunda, LUANAR will harness Astria Learning’s robust e-learning solutions to provide unprecedented access to innovative Agritech programmes. This collaboration will bridge the current limitations of traditional learning, making education more accessible and effective for all students.
During the ceremony, Professor Kaunda thanked Jeff Bordes, CEO of Astria Learning, for partnering with LUANAR in this transformative educational venture. Kaunda said, “This partnership perfectly aligns with our strategic goals to enhance educational access and quality through technology”.
Astria Learning will support LUANAR’s implementation of advanced online programmes covering various disciplines. These programmes aim to empower students with flexible, quality education. They complement LUANAR’s commitment to transforming agricultural education and addressing food security challenges through informed and technologically empowered graduates.
Luanar’s Open Distance and Learning Coordinator, Precious Gawanani, said, “This collaboration will deliver 100% online undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through the Astria learning platforms, creating a new Luanar e-campus. He added, “Currently, Luanar accommodates over 15,000 students across its campuses. The introduction of the e-campus is anticipated to significantly increase this number, especially by attracting students from regional and international backgrounds who might need help accessing higher education due to location constraints.”
This collaboration is not just about transforming educational access, it’s about revolutionizing the agricultural sector, a vital sector in Malawi. Astria Learning and Acres Club, led by Jeff Bordes, are joining forces to integrate technology in agriculture, enhancing food security and improving livelihoods. Acres Club, known for modern, sustainable large-scale farming, will not only train but also employ LUANAR graduates. This initiative is a game-changer, equipping students with the skills needed to manage advanced agricultural practices, ensuring that educational advancements translate into tangible benefits for the sector.
Speaking on the collaboration, CEO of Astria Learning, Dr. Jeff Bordes, said:
By combining LUANAR’s expertise in agriculture and natural resources with our advanced EdTech platforms, we are setting a precedent for the future of education in Malawi and beyond.
