BorderPlus, a new-age cross-border workforce mobility platform, recently raised $7 million (INR 60 crore) in a funding round led by Owl Ventures. Entrepreneurs, including Binny Bansal, Mithun Sacheti, Ritesh Agarwal, Aakash Chaudhary, and Apoorva Patni, also participated in this round. This marks BorderPlus’ first institutional (external) funding round.
Mayank Kumar, co-founder of upGrad, and Ayush Mathur, a former senior executive at OYO, launched BorderPlus in January of this year. The platform provides end-to-end support, including finishing school training, language learning, visa processing, employment opportunities, cultural integration, local qualification recognition, financing, and talent leasing. It enables skilled blue-collar workers to pursue worldwide professions. The startup now operates in the healthcare and nursing fields.
Speaking about the development, Amit A Patel, Managing Director at Owl Ventures, said:
The global workforce landscape is evolving, especially with demographic trends such as ageing populations. The tiered skilling and mobility approach that BorderPlus brings to the table is solving a critical need. BorderPlus’ ability to integrate technology with end-to-end workforce mobility solutions is revolutionary.
The company has already started training its first batch of nurses, preparing them for global assignments through a complete approach that includes language instruction, visa processing, work placements, cultural integration, and financial assistance.
Mayank Kumar and Ayush Mathur, co-founders of BorderPlus, said:
We are committed to unlocking cross-border employment opportunities, and this fundraiser will support us in enhancing our platform capabilities, strengthening partnerships, expanding our reach, and making international workforce mobility seamless and accessible.
With this funding, BorderPlus plans to fuel its mission to streamline international career opportunities for skilled Indian workers, starting with healthcare professionals and nurses.
