CakeResume, an international talent platform providing the world’s top online resume-building tool and bringing global opportunities to talent in the digital age, has recently raised $4.7 million (TWD150 million) in its Series A round led by MyNavi, one of Japan’s most prominent human resources companies.
With the capital, the Taiwan-based company plans to expand its offering of networking resources, including a new “Talent Network” function on its mobile app that allows users to swipe on the profiles of people they want to meet. The goal is facilitating meetings between job seekers, headhunters, and mentors, making it easier for professionals to expand their network and explore new opportunities.
CakeResume, founded by Trantor Liu, distinguishes itself from competing job boards like LinkedIn by providing a unique feature that enables users to create multimedia resumes. Professionals who want to display their work in industries like software engineering and design would benefit from this capability. Job seekers can customize their resumes by incorporating images, videos, fonts, and even iframes. For instance, software engineers can embed projects from GitHub, while designers can incorporate data visualizations. This multimedia resume builder empowers individuals to present their skills and accomplishments in a visually appealing and interactive manner.
The startup has worked diligently on an AI talent recommendation engine for the past few years. This cutting-edge technology is designed to streamline the candidate sourcing process for companies and recruiters, reducing the time spent by 40% to 50%. By leveraging the AI engine, recruiters can specify their requirements, such as hiring a senior Java engineer in Indonesia with a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000. The engine will then generate a list of potential candidates who meet these criteria, saving valuable time and resources.
Headquartered in Taipei, the firm currently boasts a user base of 5 million individuals worldwide and serves over 7,000 clients who rely on the platform to find suitable job candidates. Tech giants like Google, L’Oreal, and TSMC use it.
In addition to enhancing its features and functionality, CakeResume also intends to utilize the funding to support its growth in Southeast Asia, focusing on onboarding more companies from Indonesia. The platform’s success in the region, especially in Indonesia, has paved the way for further expansion opportunities. By strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia, CakeResume aims to become the go-to talent-sourcing platform for regional companies.
CakeResume continues revolutionising how professionals interact with job chances with its cutting-edge multimedia resume creator, networking tools, and AI talent suggestion engine. The company is positioned well to maintain its status as a top talent-sourcing platform in the tech industry and beyond as it grows its operations in nations like Indonesia, Vietnam, and India. In 2020, it had raised $900,000 in seed funding from Mynavi.
