The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has informed principals of affiliated schools regarding NCERT’s online courses for classes XI and XII on the well-known Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) portals. The Ministry of Education (MoE) launched these popular portals to offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to support and enhance students’ virtual learning.
The online courses for classes XI and XII are offered in different cycles. In the 13th cycle, NCERT offers 28 online courses across 11 subjects, including Accountancy, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, English and Sociology. The courses were introduced on April 22, 2024, and will be available till September 30, 2024. The enrolment for the classes is open now and shall close on September 01 2024. Teachers and parents can also participate in these courses to understand how to approach the content and subjects.
The online courses are designed to support and enrich students’ learning experiences in a virtual setting. Teachers and parents are also encouraged to participate in these courses to gain insights into effective teaching methodologies and subject matter.
CBSE urges all schools to play a pivotal role in disseminating this crucial information among teachers, students, and other stakeholders. One’s active participation in spreading the word about these online courses will help maximize the benefits and reach of this initiative, contributing to the overall improvement of our education system.
SWAYAM, a platform designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality, is a testament to its commitment to inclusive education. This effort aims to take the best teaching learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged, bridging the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution. The Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, ensuring that quality education is not a privilege but a right. For those seeking a SWAYAM certificate, the option to register for the final proctored exams is available at a nominal fee, making the platform accessible to all.
