Discovery Education, the worldwide EdTech leader backed by an investment firm, Clearlake Capital Group, L.P, has announced the acquisition of DoodleLearning, an online maths tool for students aged 5 to 13.
The acquisition of DoodleLearning supports Discovery Education’s mission to prepare learners for tomorrow by creating innovative classrooms connected to today’s world. DoodleLearning complements Discovery Education’s other award-winning digital services, which include Discovery Education’s K-12 platform, Mystery Science, STEM Connect, and the Math, Science, and Social Studies Techbooks.
Founded in 2012 by two math teachers, Tom Minor and Nicola Chilman, DoodleLearning offers four products supporting instruction in Math and English Language Arts for grades Pre-K to 9 that have been used by over one million children in the UK and around the world. The startup’s vision is of children learning through inspiring whole-class teaching, and of teachers having the tools and technology to ensure that every child is filling their personal learning gaps.
As part of the Discovery Education family of companies, DoodleLearning will continue to apply its educational ability to building and deploying affordable learning solutions for students worldwide.

DoodleLearning is Discovery Education’s latest acquisition. In October, 2020, the firm acquired Mystery Science and in July same year, it purchased Spiral. Prior to that, Discovery Education had announced the acquisition of Inspyro in August 2019.
