dLocal, the leading cross-border payment platform specializing in high-growth markets, has forged a unique partnership with Open English, an online English learning platform in over 30 countries. This collaboration is set to revolutionize the learning experience for over 1.5 million students, making local payments as accessible, smooth, and affordable as possible.
dLocal’s partnership with Open English adds alternative payment methods such as bank transfer, Visa Debit, cash, instalments, Boleto, and Pix. These expanded methods will be available immediately to English learners in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Vietnam.
dLocal is on a mission to bridge the payments innovation gap between international businesses and emerging economies. The platform’s current solution offers five core products under a single API integration. Founded in Uruguay, the company is keenly aware of the local payment difficulties that extend far beyond its borders. It has expanded its payment coverage to high-growth emerging markets in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, with representatives on the ground in each region to handle payments.
Speaking on the partnership, Wilmer Sarmiento, SVP of Product of Open English, said:
Making the decision to partner with dLocal was as easy as integrating the platform itself. They provide alternative and local payment methods crucial to our audience, such as instant payments, compliance, and features such as seamless subscription management, which is fantastic. They helped us achieve one of our critical goals: To make sure we can enable access to our platform to as many students as possible by offering them their favourite payment methods.
Despite growing to a $3B market in 2023, the global eLearning landscape still faces significant barriers to offering affordable and accessible solutions, mainly due to limited payment methods, high transaction fees, and complex cross-border payments, reducing student enrollment and institutional revenue. dLocal addresses these issues by providing a range of local payment options, competitive pricing, instant payments, and streamlined cross-border transaction processes. With regional expertise and compliance support, local enables eLearning companies to expand their reach and offer accessible, secure, and efficient payment solutions to students worldwide.
Justo Benetti, SVP Head of Americas at dLocal, added:
Enabling a sector crucial to developing emerging markets encapsulates the essence of the ‘why’ behind dLocal. We’re proud to partner with Open English, an established leader in LATAM with a rapidly expanding presence in markets globally. We look forward to Open English and its learners benefitting from our features tailored to e-learning and scaling that experience with them through our one API.
