Lola Panda, the EdTech platform that provides learning games for children in preschool and early education, has recently secured an undisclosed sum. The fresh investment was led by Gorilla Capital, Finland’s VC fund, which positions itself as a Nordic industrial Super-angel. The firm invests in early-stage technology companies from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and the Baltics.
Founded in Tampere, Lola Panda is not just a gaming app, but a gateway to a world of fun and exciting learning for children. It allows them to learn to read, count, solve problems, and develop their logical thinking. The educational applications, developed by the Finnish game studio BeiZ, have been downloaded more than 40 million times in 12 different language areas. BeiZ’s mission is to generate love for learning by making learning a fun, exciting and rewarding adventure for children. Its Lola Panda® educational apps have been played by millions of children worldwide, both in homes and in kindergartens. The platform is always open for feedback and collaboration with companies and individuals sharing the belief in the power of learning through play.
Speaking about the company, the Founder of BeiZ, Mika Heikinheimo, said:
Learning to read is a challenge, even in countries with a high level of education. For example, only 32% of fourth-grade children in the United States can read well. The learning model of Lola Panda applications has been adapted to suit different language areas based on learnings from previous Lola Panda applications. Lola Panda’s reading apps have been available in ten languages for years, so the company has been able to develop a solution to this big, global problem.
With this new funding, the startup plans to develop its learning games further and expand its reach to even larger language areas. This commitment to continuous improvement and expansion is a testament to the company’s dedication and vision, instilling confidence in the investors about Lola Panda’s future prospects.
Gorilla Capital’s founding Partner, Risto Rautakorpi, stated:
Knowing how to read is one of the most important skills that everyone should acquire at some point. The market is growing at a fast pace, but even in several large markets, there is a lack of professional reading learning applications.
Rautakorpi added:
The Lola World learning application is in the early stages of development, but it is already one of the best solutions and has already helped thousands of children learn to read. Now, the company must deliver on its promise and offer even larger language areas the most fun way to learn to read.
In February this year, Gorilla Capital supported a €890,000 investment for DealGuru.
