Kide Science, a Helsinki, Finland-based early childhood science learning provider, has raised €1.5 million to focus on international expansion.
The seed round was led by Sparkmind.vc, a Nordic venture capital company exclusively focused on the learning sector, and participated by selected existing investors, including Zanichelli Venture, according to its press release.
Founded in 2017, Kide Science focuses on helping children to be curious about science and the natural world in everyday life by developing and offering science learning kits and activities for children ages 3 to 8. It brings young children into imaginary science scenarios, empowering them to learn and solve real problems through storytelling and play-based activities. The platform also offers lesson plans for parents and professional development for teachers to help guide the children in their learning journey.
Kide Science claims its research-led pedagogy has helped them win customers in 14 global markets. The startup claims to serve the largest private kindergarten chain in Finland, serving 10,000 children across 200 locations.
Expressing his excitement and thoughts on how the new investment will help the company, Sari Hurme-Mehtälä, CEO of Kide Science, said in a statement,
“We’re excited that this new investment allows us to rapidly scale our global sales and marketing activities. This will help us teach key science skills to even more children globally, enabling them to better understand their world. Being purely learning sector focused Sparkmind.vc is an ideal partner for us and we look forward to working with them.”
Kide Science said the new investment will help accelerate its international growth, enabling the startup to pursue new opportunities in Asia and across key international homeschooling markets. It also said the investment will also allow rapid expansion of its existing parent product as well as funding key hires in global business development and marketing.
