Kido International, a UK-headquartered company that provides future-proof early childhood education to children in India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China, has announced the acquisition of Amelio Early Education, one of India’s leading preschool and daycare providers. This strategic acquisition establishes Kido as one of the few non-franchised participants in India’s early childhood education industry. It provides parents and families access to its award-winning pedagogy and world-class operational standards.
Kido is dedicated to transforming early childhood education through cutting-edge methods and technology, bringing the highest quality international preschool and daycare experience to parents in India, and being inspired by the most recent brain development research. The deal enables Kido to use its expertise and Amelio’s strong network to provide excellent early childhood education and care services to a larger audience in India.
Amelio, founded in 2008 by Sridevi Raghavan and Raghavan Jawahar, stands out for its unwavering commitment to high-quality childcare services. With a strong presence in the childcare industry, the platform takes satisfaction in guiding over 2000 toddlers and young children through their formative years. Notably, the company has expanded its capabilities over the last year, introducing the Amelio Reach and Amelio Home Assist programmes, highlighting its dedication to providing safe and outstanding in-person and online childcare services. In February 2024, Amelio teamed up with Kido International Preschool and Daycare. With over 13 years of childcare experience in India and over 20,000 happy children, Amelio Early Education has 30 centres in Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, with several locations dedicated to addressing corporate childcare needs.
Speaking on the deal, Aniruddh Gupta, Founder & Group CEO of Kido International, said:
India is a crucial part of our global ambitions. We’re proud to be one of the few providers in the country that deliver a truly international experience to parents and children with our world-class infrastructure, teacher training and quality. With the addition of the Amelio network, we have a critical mass in India to bring our services to a broader network of parents and embark on the next stage of our nationwide expansion plans. We aim to be one of the largest providers of premium early-years education and care in the country within the next few years, and this acquisition is a step towards that goal.
The acquisition followed Kido’s USD 7.5 million fund round, which Tanas Capital, a Singapore-based private investment firm, led. The investment will catalyze Kido International’s organic and inorganic expansion initiatives, particularly in India.
Arpita Sur, CEO of Kido International, added:
Kido’s unwavering commitment to delivering excellent childcare and education seamlessly aligns with Amelio’s mission. We will integrate Kido’s renowned global curriculum with Amelio’s expansive network of high-quality centres. Our focus on delivering exceptional and sustainable learning experiences will remain. Kido and Amelio’s teams are well-equipped to address any concerns and prioritize the well-being of parents and children throughout this process.
India’s National Education Policy 2020 has created a transformative vision for children’s futures. It emphasizes the need for high-quality early childhood education and healthy learning environments during the formative years. With these new restrictions, parents and the government are anticipated to resume their focus on the industry. Kido is well-positioned to become a market leader thanks to its expanded network, award-winning pedagogy, and international quality operations. Its curriculum is developed in-house and supported by a world-renowned panel of advisors.
