Kyna English, a Vietnamese online education platform based in Ho Chi Minh City, has completed an undisclosed series B funding round led by Asia Business Builders (ABB). DTP Education Group (DTP) and Kyna English’s co-founder and CEO, Ho Hong Bao Tram, participated. KPMG acted as the exclusive merger and acquisition advisor.
Launched in 2020, Kyna English provides the younger generation access to high-quality language training using innovative learning methods. The platform allows parents to choose the curriculum and teacher that fits their kids’ learning styles. The company then assigns the courses and teachers best suited to their kids’ needs. It leverages AI technology to deliver tailored learning experiences, enabling learners to progress at their own pace and according to their unique needs.
The startup marked a new chapter following its parent company’s transfer of skills training platforms (Kyna.vn and Kynabiz.vn) to Navigos Group. It also offers one-on-one online English solutions to provide personalized and effective courses to learners of all ages, including those in smaller cities and towns.
Speaking on the fundraising, Ho Hong Bao Tram, CEO of Kyna English, said:
Kyna English will continue to innovate its online personalized tutoring platform by integrating advanced technologies such as AI and machine learning to personalize students’ learning experiences. This differentiates Kyna English in the competitive market and provides millions of users globally with a flexible, effective, and affordable English learning solution.
Since its inception, Kyna English has served over 150,000 students and offers over 15,000 classes daily. It boasts a global network of over 8,000 tutors and has completed 10 million one-on-one sessions. The platform has also expanded operations into Thailand, Indonesia, and Laos. The platform’s cumulative number of one-on-one classes has impressively reached 10 million to date.
Do Lan Anh, Partner of ABB, said:
ABB’s investment in Kyna English reflects our strong commitment to advancing high-quality, accessible education for the people of Vietnam and, more broadly, Southeast Asia.
Kyna English introduced Kyna AI Tutor last year, enabling learners to study, interact, and practice speaking skills with AI through various formats following their online classes with teachers. Kyna AI Tutor delivers a highly personalized learning environment, offering customized lesson plans and detailed feedback on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and overall English proficiency.
The company will also partner with DTP to leverage its network, digital content library, and teaching resources to develop new courses and implement expansion strategies.
In addition to strengthening its position in Vietnam, Kyna English will use this funding to expand its operations into Thailand, Indonesia, and Laos while exploring new opportunities across Asia, where demand for English learning continues to rise rapidly. It also plans to improve its AI-driven personalized tutoring platform, which provides customized learning experiences for students.
