While teachers are being trained to make efficient use of technology, a lot of educators are willing to enroll in certifications purposed to help teachers gain the knowledge about the right use of technology. It also helps them bring an edge to their professional journey.
In this post I have mentioned few certifications that will be great if you are an educator looking to add the edtech feather to your hat.
1. ISTE CERTIFICATION
International Society for Technology in Education Certification is a competency-based, vendor-neutral teacher certification based on the ISTE Standards for Educators. It recognizes educators who use edtech for learning in meaningful and transformative ways. The courses offered help educators by delivering: practical guidance, evidence-based professional learning, virtual networks, thought-provoking events and more!
To be an ISTE Certified Educator learner has to complete a two-day face-to-face training conducted by an ISTE Certification Authorized Providers.
Further you have to complete a five to eight week online course (approximately 30 hours). Then you require submitting your e-portfolio of artifacts to the ISTE certification review panel.

2. Leading Edge Certifications
Leading Edge Certification (LEC) is a national certification program in educational technology and curriculum innovation. Created by an Alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies, LEC is the first national certification program of its kind, and is platform and vendor neutral.
Currently they offer 4 certifications as follows:
– Online and Blended Teacher
– Administrator
– Digital Educator
– Professional Learning Leader

3. Microsoft Certified Educator
The Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification validates that educators have the global educator technology literacy competencies which are needed to provide a rich, custom learning experience for students.
MCE certification is ideal for educators-in-training, faculties of teacher training colleges, and in-service educators. They also offer a comprehensive e-learning curriculum, 21st Century Learning Design, to help educators prepare for this rigorous exam

4. Google For Education
Google offers two different certifications that can help individuals with their different needs.
– Google Certified Trainer: A Google Education Trainer isn’t much about what you do in your classroom, it is about really learning the tools. To become a trainer, you must pass a series of tests designed to test your knowledge of Google Tools
Whether you are a school’s go-to technologist, a stellar classroom teacher or an enterprising consultant, anyone can apply for membership in this program. Individuals with the following roles may be particularly good fits:

– Google Certified Innovator: It is an energizing 12 month professional development experience for creative leaders in education. Certified Innovators help their organizations, each other and Google push the boundaries of what’s possible in education. As ongoing participants in this community of educators, they transform the organizations they’re serving, advocate for change, and grow their own capacity as thought leaders. The new program focuses on helping Innovators launch a transformative project to help improve education in their schools, regions, or the world. Support includes mentorship, online learning activities, and an in-person Innovation Academy.
Candidates for the Google for Education Certified Innovator program are selected based on their professional experience, their passion for teaching and learning, their innovative use of technology in school settings, their potential to impact other educators, and their desire to tackle some of the biggest challenges in education.

5. Apple Distinguished Educators Programme
Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) are part of a global community of education leaders recognized for doing amazing things with Apple technology in and out of the classroom. They explore new ideas, seek new paths and embrace new opportunities. That includes working with each other — and with Apple — to bring the freshest, most innovative ideas to students everywhere.
ADEs work closely with Apple to lead innovation in education.
ADEs advise Apple on integrating technology into learning environments — and share their expertise with other educators and policy makers. They author original content about their work. They advocate the use of Apple products that help engage students in new ways. And they are ambassadors of innovation, participating in and presenting at education events around the world.
