Logics Academy, a Canadian leader in providing K-12 STEM, robotics and coding solutions developing rich, comprehensive learning materials for students in the classroom, has recently announced its partnership with The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) to create a digital readiness program for grades 6 – 8 educators and students.
As a part of this partnership, Logics Academy will analyze resources and results from an earlier pilot programme and provide recommendations and improvements to modernize the material and teacher activities. Comprehensive teacher assessments will be created to ensure that students gain the future-ready skills required for today’s workplace, like computational/critical thinking and problem-solving. In addition, Federal Government’s funding can-code programme, free coding hardware will be available for hands-on learning. Training and support will be provided to ensure educator and student success, and upon completion of the programme, students will receive MyFIT certification.
MyFIT (Middle Years Focus on Information Technology) is a middle school precursor for the FIT (Focus on Information Technology) high school programme and will be available to select classrooms starting April 2023.
Speaking on the collaboration, Chief Executive Officer of Logics Academy, Ramy Ghattas, said:
ICTC’s strong reputation as a resource for upskilling students and this program’s goal of encouraging students to learn more future-ready skills aligns perfectly with our mission and vision. This partnership will support students and educators across the country to evaluate their digital knowledge and provide a learning experience to foster leadership, interpersonal, technical and business skills.
ICTC offers youth and young adults programs to help equip them with the skills required to compete in the digital economy. In partnership with Logics Academy, a company dedicated to ensuring that all Canadian students are allowed to advance their coding skills, they are pleased to offer this new program nationwide.
Elizabeth Mills, Associate Vice-President of Skills Excellence, ICTC, added:
ICTC is delighted to launch MyFIT for teachers and students in Grades 6-8 across Canada. This unique initiative reaches children and their educators earlier, increasing their motivation to pursue higher education and employment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
ICTC is a neutral, not-for-profit national centre of expertise with the mission of strengthening Canada’s digital advantage in the global economy.
