The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, and Rooman Technologies to offer India’s first microcredit advanced certificate courses in new age skills to youth. This strategic alliance will expand the potential of India’s youth in Industry 4.0 and cutting-edge technologies. It aims to create a workforce equipped with the skills and readiness demanded by today’s evolving job market by making India’s premier institute, IIT Guwahati, accessible to the youth.
According to an official statement, the collaboration will transfer earned credits from these initiatives to degree programmes by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines. This credit-based curriculum will cover cutting-edge topics such as VLSI, Data Science, AI-ML, Cyber Security, and Cloud Computing. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO and MD of NSDC International, and Manish Kumar, CEO of Rooman Technologies, signed the MoUs.
In addition, the alliance seeks to strengthen India’s semiconductor industry and improve the skill sets of students enrolled in BTech/BE/BSc/BCA/MCA programs for the VLSI domain. After completing the short-term VLSI programme, students can apply for entry-level positions such as VLSI design engineers, verification engineers, and physical design engineers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, said:
