MyCaptain, an EdTech platform that enables students to dream by helping them with courses curated by industry experts, has raised $3 million as a part of its pre-Series A funding led by Ankur Capital.
Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), Firstport ventures, IIM Calcutta Angels Network, Singapore Angel Investors and other angel investors have also participated in the fundraise.
The Bengaluru-based startup plans to use the funds to expand the reach of its courses, onboard more users and push its revenue to a four-fold growth.
Co-founded by Mohammed Zeeshan, Sameer Ramesh and Ruhan Naqash in 2013, MyCaptain is an online mentoring platform where students can learn directly from young professionals, discover new career options and build practical skills. The platform offers beginner to advanced live and online cohort-based courses in 35 different professions ranging from design to copywriting, content, entrepreneurship, finance, and the stock market , even foraying out to the creative fields like filmmaking, photography, creative writing, and more.
MyCaptain aims to empower young minds and enable them to make choices to create a future they deserve.
Speaking about the capital raised, Co-founder and CEO of MyCaptain, Mohammad Zeeshan, said, “It is an exciting time for edtech in India as we see several new categories emerging. More than 65 million jobs will be created on the internet by 2025 as per a McKinsey report and there’s no hand-holding or guidance for these jobs so far.”
Zeeshan further added, “We will use the funds raised to further scale our course offerings, grow our revenues four-folds and grow our team. We are excited to partner with Ankur Capital and other investors who have shown a great amount of belief in our vision and team. Together we hope to bring in a societal mindset shift towards new-age careers and build future Entrepreneurs, Designers, Creators, writers, technologists and more for India.”
At present, MyCaptain has been able to train, mentor and facilitate monetizable outcomes for over 150,000 paid learners.
Besides, the courses formulated by MyCaptain were specifically thought to be meant for the privileged children emerging from Tier I and Tier II cities. However, with the maturing of the societal mindset and the evolution of various careers. Currently, the Climber Knowledge and Careers Pvt Ltd-owned and operated firm claims to have witnessed almost 70 percent of its students emerging from Tier II and Tier IV cities, and even beyond that.
The company believes that there’s a change coming, one that’s long overdue, in the way that India chooses careers. MyCaptain is here to help bring about that change to challenge the status quo.
