Learnerbly, a SaaS marketplace for professional development, has raised $10 million in a Series A funding round led by the transatlantic venture capital firm Beringea.
Other investors including Digital Horizon Ventures, BY Venture Partners, GO Ventures, and FJ Labs, and existing investors such as Frontline Ventures, Triple Point, London Co-Investment Fund, and UFI Ventures have also participated in the round.
The UK startup has also secured the backing of some influential angel investors including Zach Coelius (Coelius Capital), Leonard Picardo (second employee at Deliveroo), Neil Ryland (CRO of Peakon), Renaud Visage (Co-founder and CTO of Eventbrite), and Stephan Thoma (Former Global Head of Learning at Google).
Announcing the funding in a blog post, the company said the funding is paramount to helping it achieve its mission: to be the most inspiring learning platform around the world, helping everyone unlock their full potential.
Learnerbly’s online marketplace offers access to books, podcasts, conferences, courses, coaching, and more from over 250 providers including Blinkist, Masterclass, Pluralsight, and General Assembly, and is aimed at engineers, marketers, finance, and sales, etc.
Explaining what the company is solving and how the new funding will help the company, Rajeeb Dey MBE, Founder & CEO of Learnerbly, said,
“An increasingly competitive hiring market and the rise of the ‘great resignation’ mean employers worldwide are concerned about how they recruit and retain top talent. The focus on learning and development (L&D) has, therefore, never been greater. And yet, many HR teams struggle to keep up with the breadth of content and pace of change required for L&D in the digital economy. At Learnerbly, we tackle these challenges head on.
Our Series A funding will enable us to accelerate our growth and bring our novel approach to workplace learning to support employers in cultivating a culture of learning and supporting their upskilling efforts globally.”
The company said it will use the funds to develop its product to meet more of its clients’ needs and deliver a better experience to its users globally, making learning and development easier and more impactful for organizations. It also plans to use to accelerate its expansion in the US, and hire across its teams, especially engineering, product, and design.
Maria Wagner, Investment Director at Beringea, commented,
“With the hybrid work environment, employers are under pressure to offer new ways of learning for their employees and ensure they are engaged and retained … Learnerbly offers a curated solution that serves both the needs of the employees and of HR departments in this new environment.”
Learnerbly has so far secured clients including HelloFresh, King, Salary Finance, Curve, GoCardless, WeTransfer, Freetrade, Tech Nation, and Busuu among others.
