ProLiteracy, the nation’s most significant adult literacy and primary education organization, has announced a new partnership with its publishing division New Readers Press and Guild, the leader in opportunity creation for America’s workforce. As a part of this collaboration, employees at innovative employers, including Chipotle, Pitney Bowes, Target, and Tyson Foods, will now have employer-funded access to the New Readers Press High School Equivalency Preparation distance learning program, providing working adult learners across the country a path toward earning a high school equivalency degree, opening the door to career advancement and higher education.
Through Guild, forward-thinking companies can invest in their employees, unlocking opportunities for personal and professional growth via education and learning programs, career development, and one-on-one coaching.
Commenting on the partnership, President & CEO of ProLIteracy, Mark Vineis, said:
We are honoured to have been chosen to work alongside Guild and these innovative companies. Through this partnership, we can provide frontline workers with a path to high school equivalency that will lead to promotions and additional education to meet their career and life goals.
ProLiteracy has a long history of developing leading-edge resources to help adults achieve their educational goals to transform their lives. Adults who earn a high school equivalency degree increase their employability and earning potential, leading to upward economic mobility and a positive effect on their families and communities for generations to come. The company believes a safer, more robust, and more sustainable society starts with an educated adult population. For more than 60 years, ProLiteracy has been working across the globe to change lives and communities through the power of literacy.
Chief Partnerships Officer of Guild, Marty Martinez, added:
We are thrilled to work alongside ProLiteracy to serve our nation’s working adult learners. The addition of ProLiteracy to Guild’s Learning Marketplace means that learners across the country will have the opportunity to pursue critical foundational learning through high school completion, thanks to the support of their employer. We look forward to seeing how accomplishing this often long-held goal can be a springboard for upward mobility.
ProLiteracy provides support, professional development, resources, and digital tools to over 5,000 member and non-member programs across the US and international partners in 27 countries, helping them support their adult learners. It envisions a world where adults who want to increase their literacy, numeracy, language, and education skills can access the necessary help and resources.
Sonja Chernos, Vice President of New Readers Press publishing for ProLIteracy, commented:
We look forward to welcoming working adult learners nationwide and supporting them in reaching their educational goals.
