EduSpaze, Singapore’s leading educational technology accelerator, welcomed six early-stage startups nationwide into its well-established three-month accelerator programme. The latest batch of EdTech startups is consistent with the accelerator’s programme, which aims to foster the development of innovative approaches to better the education landscape in Singapore and the region.
The six startups, which include YAHO Lab, Edvance, Quippy, School on Cloud, Safe Space, and Salatech, were carefully chosen for their high market potential and scalability, strong founding team, and clear value proposition while demonstrating significant promise. As part of the renowned three-month EduSpaze accelerator program, the firms would receive seed capital and mentorship from industry professionals, access to an investor network, and opportunities to expand their businesses in the region.
EduSpaze operates under the umbrella of Spaze Ventures, a prominent seed capital firm and startup incubator, and is supported by Enterprise Singapore. Now in its eighth iteration, the accelerator programme strives to empower and uplift edtech startups within the region. Past participants of this highly regarded initiative, such as Flying Cape, ClassPoint, and myFirst, have experienced remarkable growth and progress during their engagement with EduSpaze. This testament to their success underscores the invaluable support and resources provided by the programme.
Alex Ng, Managing Director of EduSpaze, commented on the development:
The Southeast Asia region is known for its unique challenges and opportunities, making it a dynamic area for professional endeavours. This region comprises diverse countries with distinct characteristics and obstacles despite their geographical proximity. We observe varying levels of readiness for digital transformation among countries in SEA. For example, with a 98% internet penetration rate among students in Singapore, the EdTech Masterplan 2030 is focused on creating a seamless and enhanced learning environment for students. However, in countries with low internet penetration rates, like Cambodia, their EdTech policy prioritises expanding access to quality education for marginalised communities.
Singapore has become a thriving location for technology businesses, particularly in the EdTech sector. The city-state’s innovation-friendly environment, robust infrastructure, and strong government support have spurred the creation of countless EdTech companies, catapulting them from local success to impact worldwide. Notably, beginning with the eighth cohort, School on Cloud has developed unique solutions that gamify learning for children in response to the increasing needs of the education industry, integrating technology such as artificial intelligence and data analytics to improve learning experiences.
Mint Lim, CEO and Co-founder of School on Cloud added:
At School on Cloud, we are dedicated to revolutionising the education system and providing quality education for all children, regardless of their backgrounds. We are determined to create a love for learning through innovative technology and inclusive teaching methods and break down educational barriers. We are excited to be part of EduSpaze’s eighth cohort, especially with their team of educators-in-residence (EIR), to help provide an educator’s perspective; SOC is on the right path in improving and bringing our innovative technology to a greater audience globally.
