NUWE, a Spain-based HRTech startup, has recently raised €739,000 ($786,000 U.S.) in its second funding round led by Asterius VC, with participation from Finaves, BackFund and existing investor Demium Capital.
With this investment round, the company plans to continue the development of its new products and to scale the sales and technical team. It also intends to revolutionize the industry further.
Co-founded in 2021 by four entrepreneurs, Carlos Ibáñez Cuadal, Edgar Gago Carrillo, Guillem Moreno Bravo, and Jordi Simó Climent, NUWE offers a gamified platform with which it helps companies find the best technological talent. The platform does this by evaluating the candidates’ technical skills through challenges and programming competitions (Hackathons).
At NUWE, developers participate in weekly challenges, coding leagues and hackathons, which are one-weekend events where they have to develop different challenges, individually and in teams, focused on various technologies and roles, such as web development, data science, etc. With all this, they validate the participants’ hard and soft skills while having fun meeting other developers with the same interests. Then, companies can hire already validated talents with just “one click, ” making processes much shorter and cheaper, unlike methods done the conventional way. They are also able to sell itself as a dev-friendly company.
Speaking about the company, Co-founder & CEO of NUWE, Jordi Simó Climent, said:
We were born with an illusion: to revolutionize the IT contracting sector and make skills dictate your professional path. Little by little, we are achieving it, and there is nothing better than seeing the opinions of users and customers as a reward.
The startup has a staff of 12 workers divided between technology, product, operations and sales. Its clients include Schneider Electric, Oracle, Mobile World Capital and CaixaBank. Also, it actively participates in technological events aimed at social causes with the Red Cross or with the occurrence of “The International Femhack”.
According to the NUWE, the primary mission of the platform is that both its users and client companies have a good experience during the selection process. At the same time, both parties receive transparent and quality contact.
In 2021, Nuwe had raised €100,000 in a pre-seed round from Demium’s partner fund, Think Bigger Capital.
