GuruCall, a Madrid-based knowledge sharing and mentoring platform, has raised an additional €500,000 (~USD 565k) to its €1.4 million (~USD 1.6M) in a pre-seed round led by the Spanish family office with participation from internal investors such as Félix Ruiz (current Co-CEO of Playtomic), Paco Avila and Hugo Arevalo.
Founded in 2020 by Jose Manuel Peral Cortés and Juan Varela de Limia, GuruCall uses technology to take the coaching & advice experience to a new level. A unique panel of successful Gurus help organizations grow, by empowering people through hearing real experiences, making them feel inspired, learning new skills, igniting passions, getting real insights and making better decisions.
The startup claims to be building a ‘marketplace for business advice’ in which users are offered one-to-one or one-to-many meetings. Users can have meetings with successful company founders, C-Level executives, or acclaimed athletes with durations ranging from 15 to 60 minutes.
Commenting on the funding, Co-founder and CEO of GuruCall, Jose Manuel Peral Cortés, said, “This money will help us monetise new functionality and over the 250 hours of elearning we have from key Spanish speaking leaders, influencers and C-level executives, we have many surprises to reveal during 2022…GuruCall will change the way experienced people and experts share their experience with companies and professionals to make better decisions.”
GuruCall features include one-on-one public calls, group calls management, team-based Q&A, live events management, executive content management, and etc. The company caters to VC & investors, sports & games, fashion & lifestyle, culinary arts, and etc. Professionals giving expert advice and teachings on the platform already include the likes of e Alejandro Agag (Founder of Formula E), Antonio Catalan (Founder of NH & AC Hotels), Gloria Lomana (Founder of 50&50), Dimas Gimeno (Founder and CEO of WOW Group).
In September 2020, GuruCall had raised €1.2 million in its pre-Seed round of funding led by entrepreneurs like Félix Ruiz, co-founder of Tuenti, Auro, Storybeat, former President of Job with participation from Talent and actual co-CEO of Playtomic, Paco Avila, among others. Prior to that, the startup had raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-Seed round from FJ Labs in January of the same year.
