In a significant move, Education Minister Hon’ble Shri Dharmendra Pradhan announced a ground-breaking partnership to merge academic learning with practical work experience, establishing a new benchmark for higher education and employability. Dharmendra Pradhan has officially launched an innovative cooperation between TeamLease EdTech and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), ushering in a new era in Indian education and skill development.
This strategic collaboration aims to foster employability through skill development by endorsing work-integrated degree programmes. Diversity, TeamLease EdTech’s pioneering tech-first platform, will now synergize with Skill India Digital, offering candidates enhanced access to higher education and employment opportunities.
TeamLease EdTech, India’s leading educational solutions provider, has established Digivarsity, a game-changing platform combining academic study and real-world work experience. Diversity, which aims to redefine higher education in India, prepares students for successful professions by providing them with crucial workplace skills and academic knowledge. Diversity, collaborating with India’s most prestigious universities and more than 150 prominent enterprises, offers innovative work-related degree programmes that bridge the gap between education and employment. The launch of Digivarsity addresses significant challenges for both companies and institutions. Employers frequently describe difficulty in finding and maintaining qualified personnel. The platform reflects the vision for the future of higher education in India as envisioned by the National Education Policy 2020.
Speaking about the development, Shantanu Rooj, Founder & CEO of TeamLease EdTech, said:
Digivarsity is poised to initiate a transformative shift in India’s higher education sector. We are committed to investing INR 100 crore over the next five years to expand the platform and reach over 10 lakh students. The skills required by today’s employers are best learned through real-world learning environments in collaboration with industry partners. Our objective is to furnish students with the skills needed by the job market, thereby shaping the workforce of tomorrow.
This collaboration marks an evolutionary step towards enhancing employability and skill development by launching a new category of embedded work programmes to improve the employability prospects of India’s youth.
Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, added:
Participants of the Work-Integrated Degree Programmes will receive on-the-job internships or apprenticeships, granting them substantial skills and work experience upon graduation and a distinct advantage over fresh graduates. Furthermore, each student will receive a monthly stipend to support their education and living expenses, realizing the ‘Earn while you Learn’ concept.
Since its inception, NSDC has supported international workforce mobility through strategic partnerships with foreign governments, specific training programmes, and inclusive digital and on-ground activities. The organization has recently established the Center for Future Skills in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, in partnership with Ethnotech Academic Solutions.
