Singapore continues to be an attractive investment base for Indian startups, Vidyakul being the latest to tap into it.
Singapore-based startup advisory and investment company, ThinKuvate, announced its participation in the latest funding round of Vidyakul, a vernacular e-learning company from India.
ThinKuvate is a consortium of senior corporate professionals from different industries and with functional expertise to help startups in the growth phase. The company extends advisory services related to funding, sales, marketing, business development and technology.
Vidyakul, founded in 2018, offers an e-learning platform for students who follow the state board curriculum. Around one million high-school and higher secondary school students from tier II/III cities and towns across 10 states in India have used the platform.
Currently, the company offers tutoring in Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and Hinglish (a mix of Hindi and English). Students from grades 9 to 12 can take live lectures and pre-recorded courses and access study material in a language of their choice.
Ritesh Toshniwal, Managing Partner, ThinKuvate, says,
“Vidyakul is addressing the needs of an underserved section of the student population. These students are most comfortable in their native tongue and want an affordable solution. We’re delighted to be able to support the business expansion plans of this innovative venture. ThinKuvate is fortunate to be based out of Singapore, which is becoming the de facto investment hub for startups. In this round, we were joined by like-minded professionals from our network who want to test the startup waters.”
ThinKuvate provided coaching and handholding to these professionals who are new to the field. The professionals got the advantage of ThinKuvate’s due diligence process and the collective knowledge of its network of professionals.
Mayank Jain, who joined this round of fundraising, says, “I’m glad to be part of the Vidyakul funding round. ThinKuvate attracts a lot of quality startups who are looking for growth funding, which I don’t necessarily have access to. In the process, I save time and effort in conducting my own due diligence. It is also great to be part of a network of like-minded professionals and constantly tap one another’s knowledge and experience.”
Through this funding, ThinKuvate is helping Vidyakul to expand its existing team and enhance its platform with high-quality educational content in vernacular languages.
ThinKuvate is headquartered in Singapore, with a presence in Australia, India, the UK, the US, Middle East, Latin America and South Africa.
