Usability:- A major problem in language literacy is that IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) and dictionary guides are not sufficient for showing proper English pronunciation, since they use the difficult to comprehend and remember special symbols for the purpose. Our traditional English writing system unlike that of other languages, doesn’t provide a guide to pronunciation and spelling, which makes writing and pronouncing words boorish. Hence, it’s time to rebase the English phonetics in the language itself, if it’s ever to be learned properly and with ease.
Truespel phonetics is finally the solution. It is designed to use only the letters of the alphabet to enable writing as well as reading phonetically, hence providing ease of reading, writing and pronunciation. It integrates dictionary pronunciation guides, translation guides, ESL (English as second language) and phonetic database analysis tools.
For ESL learners, they can speak American English phonetically with minimal accent by using the free automatic online converter that Truespel provides. The converter displays phonetics next to traditional text to show pronunciation. This is a URL converter and hence can be used anywhere on the Internet.
Teachers can use it for accent remediation or to prepare initial read/write lessons for students. Children can use it to learn the 40 sounds of English easily, which forms a basis for further learning. Being keyboard friendly, it allows easy spreadsheet analysis applications, such as spreadsheet entries for database analysis, etc.
There are four Truespel books available, which consist of a VOA (Voice of America) dictionary with Truespel pronunciation guide and phoneme frequency analysis.
