[Infographic] Tuning into Mass Online Education with MOOCs
MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are the biggest trend of the 21st century educational system. MOOCs are the courses designed for mass online education, i.e. thousands of students to access them online for free from around the world.

No matter where

you’re in the world, MOOCs will bring you best teachers available globally. The courses cover almost all the topics in the educational spectrum. This infographic provides you with information about MOOCS, statistics & benefits of MOOCs, reasons for MOOC dropouts, etc.

Important points covered in the infographic:

The New York Times reported that more than 5 million students globally registered for MOOCs as of 2013.

Each course may have hundreds, thousands or hundreds of thousands of students and just one professor.

As of 2013, 13% of schools offer MOOCs and the number is expected to rise to 43% by 2016.

According to The Chronicle of Higher Education’s survey of MOOC educators, the median enrollment per course was 33000.

Out of 155000+ enrolled students, only 7100+ students completed the courses.

Educational attainment: 37% Bachelor’s degree, 28% Master’s/Professional degree and 27% High School.

Enterasys (2013) reported the greatest drawbacks according to an international sample of educators:

41% lack of standard review/grading system.

81% of professors said teaching a MOOC took time from their other duties.

The efficient ways to decrease MOOC drop outs is MOOC Meetups, self-motivation and creating awareness.
